Natural Remedy For Acid Reflux

Acid reflux is the result of the splashing up of fluids from the stomach into the esophagus.  These stomach fluids are composed of hydrochloric acid (HCL), pepsin and occasionally
bile from the liver. Stomach fluid helps break down the food we eat so that it can be digested.  The hydrochloric acid in the stomach fluid helps prevent harmful bacteria from multiplying in the stomach and intestines.  Because acid reflux can be very painful and harmful, many sufferers are searching for a natural remedy for acid reflux.

Although hydrochloric acid also helps the body absorb vitamins and nutrients, it is very strong and corrosive.  The stomach holds this powerful acid in check with a special
protective lining.  The esophagus, however, does not have this protection.  It is when acid splashes up through the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) into the esophagus that we
have the problems of acid reflux.

The medical community would have us believe that drugs are the only remedy for acid reflux.  This, of course, is not true.  There is always a natural remedy for acid reflux for every synthetically produced medication.  Drugs have terrible side effects.  Chewing crystallized ginger is a natural remedy for acid reflux.   Even chewing gum is a natural remedy for acid reflux.

Another natural remedy for acid reflux is water.  Drinking several gallons of water each day rids the body of acidity, and helps make the
body more alkaline. Fortunately there is more than one natural remedy for acid reflux.  There are several herbs which sooth the inflamed esophagus.  Slippery elm made into a thick gelatinous tea is a wonderful natural remedy for acid reflux.

Eating more alkaline foods helps the body in cleansing, which is an important natural remedy for acid reflux prevention.  Physical activities like jogging, aerobic exercises, etc are also helpful. Laughing provides a natural inner message.
